You can involve your other children in bathing. Use child soap products made for kids. Place a warm washcloth over your baby’s belly to help keep them warm. Make sure you wash baby’s head last. A great deal of heat is lost through the head and this will help keep baby from getting chilled. Wash baby’s bottom from front to back to avoid spreading germs to your baby. Don’t clean your baby’s ear on the inside with a q-tip, sudden movements may cause an accident. Babies do not like their face covered. When washing their face, use a small washcloth and clean one area of the face at a time. To wipe eyes, start near the nose and wipe to the outside. Cover your baby with a warm washcloth after washing each body part. And finally to wash baby’s head, wrap baby in a hooded towel, hold them in a football position, gently tip back baby’s head and wet hair and scalp and lightly rub baby’s head. Then rinse and put the hood on to keep baby warm. For a wonderful bath basket with fun bathing materials like a hooded towel, washcloths and toys. |
